FKIP News—Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has once again achieved a prestigious milestone by receiving the "Exceeding Standards" award as a provider of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Program for 2024. This recognition was based on the evaluation of lecturer and education staff quality assurance, as well as monitoring and evaluation of PPG implementation in 2024. Only 8 out of 130 LPTKs (Teacher Education Institutions) offering PPG received this honor. The award was presented by the Directorate of Teacher Professional Education, Directorate General of Teachers and Educational Personnel, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) during the Symposium on PPG Quality Assurance Results in Denpasar, Bali, on December 17, 2024.

This award serves as a tangible manifestation of FKIP UMM’s commitment to improving education quality and producing professional teachers ready to face the challenges of modern education. The assessment was based on four key components: LPTK Profile, Process, Lecturers and Education Staff, and the Impact of PPG on Graduate Profiles.

Prof. Dr. Trisakti Handayani, MM., Dean of FKIP UMM, emphasized that the success of this achievement was due to the collaboration between lecturers, mentoring teachers, education staff, and IT administrators. "We ensure that all elements work synergistically to support the learning process. The close collaboration between lecturers delivering content, mentoring teachers guiding field practices, and IT administrators ensuring smooth technological support is our foundation. The PPG learning process at FKIP UMM is not just a transfer of knowledge but an integrated process fully supported by information and communication technology," he explained.

He also highlighted that FKIP UMM’s PPG program is supported by advanced information and communication technology, creating an integrative and efficient learning experience. FKIP UMM is committed to exceeding the national PPG curriculum standards by offering innovative courses relevant to technological advancements. One example is the course "Management of Learning Media Based on ICT," which equips students with skills to create technology-based media such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and even explore the Metaverse. "To support this technology-based learning, FKIP UMM has built modern multimedia spaces equipped with Smart TVs, podcast devices, and other facilities, allowing students to maximize their creativity," he added.

In addition to technology, FKIP UMM also prepares its students with global perspectives through the International Field Experience Program (PPL). In February 2025, five selected students will be sent to Thailand to teach at an international school, providing them with firsthand experience in facing global education challenges.

Prof. Trisakti concluded by emphasizing the importance of preparing Indonesian teachers for the global era. He urged FKIP UMM graduates to become agents of change who will drive the advancement of education in Indonesia on the international stage. "We must ensure that FKIP UMM graduates are ready to face global changes. We must not be displaced by foreign educators. With the technology and international perspective we possess, let’s together become agents of change for the progress of Indonesian education," he stated. (*)
